Efficiency assessment of the environmental variables in the Qanat systems based on major hydrological basins in Iran

Abstract Qanat system, as a great human heritage, contributes to the sustainable management of groundwater in arid and semiarid regions world. The main aim this paper was efficiency assessment environmental variables construction system Iran. Using geographical information (GIS) statistical method receiver operation characteristic (ROC), 20 assessed based on divisions 30 major hydrological basins. Results revealed that most physical parameters anthropogenic characteristics have significant effects water lines with an AUC index > 0.6. Pearson correlation test also confirmed positive relationships between mentioned parameters. From geological viewpoint, results highlighted effective role Quaternary aged alluvial sediments very high permeability low density crust rocks soils regions, such playa fields NamakTehran, Kavir, Lut, Siahkuh Regarding spatial expansion Iran, higher some variables, climatic element temperature, fault density, drainage were rejected due poor discrimination values <
